Using the Microsoft Spreadsheet Compare Tool to Find Differences in Spreadsheets

Ideas No Comments »

If you have a couple of Excel spreadsheets that you need to compare to find the differences in regard to things like cell values, formulas, formatting and so on, you can use the Microsoft Spreadsheet Compare app to find them. This app comes included with Microsoft Office and is usually found under your Microsoft Office Tools group.

Once you open the app, all you need to do is click on Compare files and open the two spreadsheets you wish to compare. Then you can check the boxes next to the category types you wish to compare, and you can even export your results to a spreadsheet to review later.

Spreadsheet Compare is only available with Office Professional Plus 2013, Office Professional Plus 2016, Office Professional Plus 2019, or Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise so if you can’t find it, this might be why.
